Student Reflection: Bite-Size Strategies to Foster Metacognition
bis
Washington, Washington
How do we help students become active, self-aware learners without taking up substantial class time? In this 30-minute session, we will explore quick metacognitive reflection strategies that help students assess their own learning progress. You will leave with ready-to-use ideas, including activities for the last day of class. We will discuss practical tips to keep reflection exercises fresh, meaningful, and free of “reflection fatigue” for both you and your students. This workshop is presented by the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE). The CTE provides comprehensive, integrated solutions for instructors in search of teaching solutions. If you need feedback on assignment or syllabus design, advice on teaching methods, or ideas for new activities, consider booking a consultation with the CTE. All sessions are free to GW students, faculty, staff, and alumni. GW has an institutional commitment to ensuring that all of our programs and events are accessible for all individuals. If you require any accommodations to participate in this event, please contact libraryevents@gwu.edu at least 72 business hours (3 business days) prior to the event.
