Open Classroom Returns to Celebrate 20 Years of The Policy School Northeastern University's School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs, in partnership with the Dukakis Center for Urban and Regional Policy, invites the community to a special milestone event: an advance screening of "Dukakis: Recipe for Democracy," a documentary chronicling former Massachusetts Governor and longtime Northeastern professor Michael Dukakis's lifelong dedication to public service. RSVP HERE The event will take place Tuesday, October 27, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM ET at Northeastern University's East Village, 17th floor (291 St. Botolph Street, Boston). Following the screening, Dukakis Center Director Alicia Modestino will moderate a panel discussion and Q&A, bringing together the filmmakers behind the documentary alongside teachers and students whose work has been shaped by Dukakis's example. The conversation will center on a timely question: How can public service help preserve democracy? Following the panel, attendees will then break into small-group roundtable conversations, creating space for policymakers, practitioners, community members, and researchers to connect directly, exploring together how individuals committed to public service can make meaningful progress in today's polarized political climate. Can't make it to campus? The event will be livestreamed and recorded for those joining remotely.
