Ami Maria Hernandez: Cortlandia
Olive Tjaden Gallery, New York
Cortlandia is an inquiry grounded in the Riverdale Plaza in Riverdale Park, Maryland. Founded in 1966, despite the low regard in which it is held by local residents, the Plaza celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. Riverdale Plaza is a universal paradigm. This Plaza can be found in every state, county, and city in the US. It is the paradigm through which the West approaches “cheap land” and disposable infrastructure. Funding is provided by the Cornell Council for the Arts.
