ACM Presents: Am I Cooked? Getting Hired in the AI Era
bis
Student Center West, Room 468, Fulton
AI agents are writing code, the entry-level market feels tighter than ever, and every CS student has quietly asked the question in this talk’s title. This is an honest attempt to answer it. Drawing on a career that started as an intern and ran through professional services, Big Four consulting, and building software for companies in healthcare and financial services, Donald Sangweme will make a concrete argument for why the job you are training for has survived every abstraction from assembly to AI, where the door into the industry has moved, and what to do about it before you graduate. Come skeptical. Bring your hardest questions. And every student who attends will leave having made one ask of the speaker, who will personally respond to each one. He joined OutSystems, a global enterprise application development platform company, where he spent two years as a software engineer in customer success before moving into professional services. He then joined Deloitte as a senior software engineer and tech lead in Deloitte Consulting’s LCNC practice, later moving into the mergers and acquisitions practice, where he worked on technology integrations, product commercialization, and automation. Today he runs his own development company serving clients in healthcare and financial services, and he is the founder of The FIN Foundation, a nonprofit that trains, certifies, and places emerging developers through real client work. Everyone welcome! Free refreshments!
