Saint Lucy, Barbados – The island's northernmost parish

Saint Lucy is the northernmost parish of Barbados and the only one of the eleven named after a female patron saint, Saint Lucy of Syracuse. Shaped almost like a peninsula, it is surrounded on three sides by the Atlantic Ocean. Being the part of the island farthest from the capital Bridgetown, it has long kept a quieter, rural character. A well-known landmark is the Harrison Point Lighthouse, standing between Great Head and Norse's Bay, a reminder of the importance of the sea and navigation for this coastline. Today Saint Lucy is valued for its rugged shores and village life. Do you have stories, traditions or old photos from Saint Lucy? We warmly invite you to share them with the community!
