Saint John – Parish church and Lodge School on the east coast
The parish of Saint John lies on the eastern side of Barbados, facing the Atlantic. Its history is closely tied to two long-standing institutions: St. John's Parish Church, a focal point of community life, and The Lodge School, one of the island's secondary schools.
In the southeast of the parish the coastline turns northward and forms the small Conset Bay, a place shaped by the sea and by the people who have lived from it. Quiet villages and green hills give Saint John a calm, rural character to this day.
The written record of the parish is still thin – and that is where you come in. Share your memories, family histories and local legends from Saint John here and help fill in its story.
