Central Andros – land of blue holes and bonefishing flats

Central Andros lies on Andros Island, the largest island of the Bahamas, and is especially known for its remarkable concentration of blue holes – deep underwater caves and sinkholes – as well as wide bonefishing flats. Over generations, life here has been shaped by the sea, the tidal flats and the island's natural resources, and the landscape has made the district a well-known eco-tourism destination far beyond the Bahamas. Much of the district's everyday history lives on in the memories of its families and settlements rather than in books. Today Central Andros is one of the country's districts, attracting divers, anglers and nature lovers. Do you know stories about Central Andros and its people?
