East Grand Bahama – settlements along the island's eastern shore
East Grand Bahama covers the eastern part of Grand Bahama island, a stretch of coast, pine forest and small communities reaching all the way to McLeans Town, the easternmost settlement. The district's seat of local government is the small town of High Rock, about 40 miles east of Freeport. Life in these settlements has long been shaped by the sea, fishing and the close-knit character of island communities, and much of the area's history is passed on by word of mouth within families. Today about 11,400 people live across the district. Do you know stories about East Grand Bahama, its settlements and the people who shaped them?
