Central Abaco – Marsh Harbour, commercial heart of the Abacos
Central Abaco is part of the Abaco Islands chain and the largest Schedule 2 district in the Bahamas. Its defining place is Marsh Harbour, the largest town and commercial centre of the Abacos, around which much of the region's life has developed. Nearby lie the communities of Murphy Town and Dundas Town, each with its own history and families. Over generations, the sea, boatbuilding, fishing and trade have shaped life on the Abacos, and today the district draws many sailors and visitors. In 2004 about 6,000 people lived in Central Abaco.
