Saint Andrew Parish, Dominica – the island's largest parish on the northeast coast
Saint Andrew is Dominica's largest parish, covering almost 180 square kilometres of the island's northeast. With about 10,500 residents, it is also the second most populous after Saint George. For generations its fertile lands and Atlantic coastline have supported farming and fishing communities, and villages such as Marigot grew up along the shore. The parish is also home to the island's main airport near Marigot, which connects Dominica with the wider Caribbean. Its mix of wild coast, rivers and rainforest has shaped a strong sense of local identity. Today Saint Andrew remains a region of farming villages and natural beauty.
