Saint Luke Parish, Dominica – Pointe Michel, the smallest parish

Saint Luke is the smallest of Dominica's ten parishes, both in area and in population: about 1,700 people live on less than eight square kilometres. Its only settlement is Pointe Michel, also known as La Pointe, a coastal village south of Roseau that has long been shaped by fishing and by its close connection to the sea. On the map the parish looks like a wedge pointing towards the east, squeezed between Saint George, Saint Mark and Saint Patrick. Despite its size, Pointe Michel has a strong community spirit and its own traditions. Today the village is known for its friendly atmosphere and seaside setting.
