Saint George Parish, Grenada – home of the island’s capital
Saint George’s defining feature is its capital: St. George’s, the capital of Grenada, lies in this parish on the island’s south-western end. Its horseshoe-shaped harbour, lined with pastel warehouses and red-tiled roofs, reflects a long history as the island’s main port and trading centre.
The parish is also home to Grand Anse Beach and many of the island’s resorts. At Point Salines on the south-western tip lies Maurice Bishop International Airport, the island’s only active airport. Today Saint George is the busy heart of Grenada’s public life and tourism. Know a story about your street, harbour or family? Share it with the community!
