Pomeroon-Supenaam – Farming heartland between two rivers
Pomeroon-Supenaam, Region 2 of Guyana, lies between the Pomeroon and Supenaam rivers on the country's Atlantic coast. Its identity has long been tied to the land and the water: fertile coastal fields, riverside settlements and forested hinterland have shaped how people here have lived and worked for generations.
The regional capital is Anna Regina, and the 2022 census counted about 56,500 inhabitants. Agriculture, livestock rearing and logging remain the main sources of income, and many communities keep close ties to the rivers that give the region its name. Do you have memories of village life, river journeys or family traditions from this area? We would love to read them!
