Saint Paul Capisterre Parish – village life in northern Saint Kitts

Saint Paul Capisterre is one of the smaller parishes of Saint Kitts, lying on the island's northern side with its capital at Saint Paul Capisterre Village. For centuries, the landscape here was dominated by sugar cane fields that stretched from the coast up the slopes of the mountains, and the plantation era shaped the life of its people.

After emancipation, families built villages, churches and small farms, and a strong community spirit developed that is still felt today. Fishing, farming and local traditions remain part of everyday life. It is the second-smallest parish on Saint Kitts and the third-smallest in the federation.
