Töv Province – The central land around Bogd Khan Mountain
Töv, meaning "centre", surrounds Mongolia's capital Ulaanbaatar, although the city itself is administered separately. The province's landscapes have long been bound up with the nation's history: the sacred Bogd Khan Mountain south of the capital was protected from hunting and logging for centuries and is regarded as one of the oldest protected areas in the world. Steppes, forests and river valleys here have supported herders since ancient times.
Today Töv attracts visitors to places such as the Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, while families still move with their herds across its grasslands. Do you have stories, photos or memories from Töv Province? Share them with our community!
