Qacha's Nek District – mountain gateway in southeastern Lesotho
Qacha's Nek District lies in the southeast of Lesotho, bordering South Africa's Eastern Cape Province and, in the far east, KwaZulu-Natal. Its capital, also called Qacha's Nek, is the only town in the district and has long served as a gateway through the mountains between Lesotho and its neighbours.
The district's high valleys and slopes are home to herding and farming communities, whose villages are connected by mountain roads and paths.
