Ohangwena Region – Namibia's northern borderland with Angola

Ohangwena lies along Namibia's northern edge, bordering the Cunene Province of Angola for almost its entire length, with a short stretch beside Cubango Province in the far north-east. That border position has always shaped the region: families, trade and language reach across it, and the towns grew where the routes meet. Eenhana is the capital, and other main settlements are Helao Nafidi, the self-governed village of Okongo and the proclaimed settlements of Ongha, Ongenga and Omungwelume. Within the country the region borders Kavango West and East, Oshikoto, Oshana and Omusati. A curiosity: the line where latitude equals longitude crosses it.
