Kavango East – the region created when Kavango was divided in 2013
Kavango East came into being in 2013, when the former Kavango Region was split into an eastern and a western half, and it has been finding its own profile ever since. Its capital is Rundu, on the Okavango River, and the only other self-governing settlement is the village of Divundu. The region takes in the western half of the Caprivi Strip, and its borders say a great deal about it: to the north lies the Cuando Cubango Province of Angola, to the south and south-east the North-West District of Botswana. River, woodland and long open roads shape daily life here. Share your memories, your family stories and your old photographs with the other members.
