Otjozondjupa Region – farming country around Otjiwarongo

Otjozondjupa lies in the north-central part of Namibia and is one of the country's fourteen regions, with Otjiwarongo as its capital. It also contains the municipalities of Okahandja and Grootfontein and the towns of Okakarara and Otavi, places that grew as railway, farming and mining centres and still serve the surrounding countryside. The region is known for the Waterberg Plateau rising above the bush plains, a landmark visible from far away and an important refuge for wildlife. Cattle farming, hunting and tourism shape much of everyday life. Tell us what you remember of this region: your stories, your family histories and your old photographs are very welcome here.
