Khomas Region – the highland region around Windhoek
Khomas is named after the Khomas Highland, the high plateau landscape that dominates this part of central Namibia, and it is centred on the capital city, Windhoek. Because of that, it has the country's best transport connections and well-developed economic, financial and trade sectors, which draw people from every other region. The countryside itself is hilly and cut by many valleys, with farms spread across the highland and the road to the coast winding down through the passes. Erongo lies to the west and north-west, Otjozondjupa to the north, Omaheke to the east and Hardap to the south.
