Nibok – a small western district on the Nauruan coast
Nibok lies in the west of Nauru, one of the smallest island nations in the Micronesian South Pacific. Covering just 1.6 square kilometres, or some 395 acres, it is a district where everyone knows their neighbours: the population stood at 724 in 2021. Nibok forms part of the Ubenide constituency, which brings several western districts together for elections, and the NPC field workshops are located here, giving the district a practical, working character alongside its quiet residential streets. Like the rest of the island, daily life is shaped by the sea on one side and the higher inland ground on the other. What do you remember of Nibok? Share your stories and photographs with us.
