Madang Province – a coast of volcanoes and many languages
Madang lies along the northern coast of mainland Papua New Guinea and holds an extraordinary variety within one province: some of the country's highest peaks, active volcanoes, offshore islands and coral reefs. It is also home to the country's biggest mix of languages, a reminder of how many distinct communities have lived side by side here over long centuries. The town of Madang, set on its harbour, is the provincial capital and a meeting point between the coast and the mountain hinterland. Gardening, fishing and trade shape everyday life. We invite members to share their own stories, memories and photographs of Madang.
