Ngatpang – the community of Ibobang on Ngeremeduu Bay
Ngatpang covers around 47 square kilometres on the western side of Babeldaob, Palau's largest island, facing onto Ngeremeduu Bay, the country's largest estuary system of mangroves and river mouths. Within the state lies Ibobang, a community devoted to the practice of the Modekngei faith, which grew in Palau in the twentieth century and blends traditional belief with newer teachings. With a population of 282, Ngatpang is one of the smaller states, and daily life is shaped by gardens, forest and the bay. Members are invited to share their memories, stories and photographs of Ngatpang with the community.
