Melekeok – home of Ngerulmud and Lake Ngardok
Melekeok, on the central east coast of Babeldaob, is the state where Ngerulmud, the seat of the national government, is located. Its landscape is unusually varied for a small state: long beaches, hills and steep ridges, rivers running down to the coast, and Lake Ngardok, the largest and only natural freshwater lake in Palau and in Micronesia, surrounded by savanna and forest. That combination has long supported taro gardens, fishing and village life along the shore. Members are warmly invited to share their own memories, family stories and photographs of Melekeok with the community.
