Anse Royale – a district of Mahé with a French-era name
Anse Royale is an administrative district on the island of Mahé whose name, like so many in Seychelles, goes back to the French settlement of the islands in the eighteenth century and has been carried on in Creole ever since. Today the district is known above all for education: the Seychelles Polytechnic School of the Humanities is located here, bringing students from across the country to its classrooms. Beyond the school there are the familiar elements of southern Mahé life, the bay, the reef and the gardens climbing the slopes. Share your memories, photographs and family stories with the community.
