Pointe La Rue – home of Seychelles International Airport
Pointe La Rue, on the eastern side of Mahé, is the district where Seychelles International Airport lies, its runway running along the northeast coast, so that the country's link to the wider world passes through here every day. The district covers 3.9 square kilometres, and its population rose from 3,086 at the census of 2002 to an estimated 3,172 in 2009. Anonyme Island and Rat Island belong to the district as well, small green points just offshore. Between airport, sea and settlement, daily life here is closely bound to travel and work.
