Central Singapore CDC – the district at the heart of the island
The Central Singapore Community Development Council is one of five CDCs set up across the Republic of Singapore to help administer government policies and schemes at local level. Its district covers the heart of the island, from the historic city centre and the banks of the Singapore River to mature housing towns such as Toa Payoh and Bishan. This is where old shophouse streets, places of worship of many faiths and modern high-rise estates stand side by side, and where much of the country's civic and cultural life is concentrated.
