Saint Patrick – the quiet leeward parish around Barrouallie

Saint Patrick occupies the middle portion of the leeward side of Saint Vincent, a sheltered coast of steep green hillsides dropping to the Caribbean Sea. Its capital is Barrouallie, an old coastal town whose fishing community has long been known throughout the island, while the surrounding valleys have supported small farms for generations. With just 37 square kilometres and a population of 5,800 at the 2000 census, it is the least populous parish in the country, which gives its villages a quiet, close-knit character. If you have memories, old photographs or family stories from this stretch of coast, we would be glad to see you share them with other members.
