Lusaka Province – Zambia's smallest and most urban province

Lusaka Province is the smallest of Zambia's ten provinces by land area, covering 21,896 square kilometres, yet it is by far the most populous and most densely settled, with 3,079,964 residents in 2022 and about 140 people per square kilometre. That concentration comes from its capital: the city of Lusaka, which is also the national capital and the seat of government, and around which the province's towns and suburbs have grown outwards along the main roads. It is the most urbanised province in the country, with the highest number of medical doctors and the lowest incidence of malaria.
