Southern Province – Mosi-oa-Tunya and the maize lands of the plateau
The Southern Province is home to Mosi-oa-Tunya, the Victoria Falls, shared with Zimbabwe and the country's foremost visitor attraction, where the Zambezi plunges into a narrow gorge. The river forms the province's southern boundary, Lake Kariba lies along its south-eastern edge, and the Kafue River marks the north-east, with the Kafue Flats spreading along the northern border. At its heart the Southern Plateau holds the largest area of commercial farmland of any Zambian province and produces most of the national maize crop, alongside long traditions of cattle keeping.
