East End – community life among Anguilla's fourteen districts

East End is one of the fourteen districts of Anguilla, and at the 2011 census it counted 671 residents. Like the rest of the island, it is a place where the sea is never far away: Anguilla is a low, dry coral island in the Caribbean, and generations here have made their living from fishing, boats, building trades and, more recently, from welcoming visitors. A district of this size works almost like an extended family, where neighbours know one another by name and news travels along the road faster than any newspaper. Today East End keeps that unhurried rhythm. What does your corner of East End mean to you? Share your memories and old photographs with us.
