South Hill – among the largest of Anguilla's district communities
South Hill is one of the fourteen districts of Anguilla; the 2011 census recorded 1,722 residents, among the larger district populations on the island. Anguilla is a low coral island in the Caribbean, and its communities grew around the sea: fishing, boat work, trade with neighbouring islands, and long spells of work overseas that shaped many families. Everyday life still runs through churches, schools, small businesses and the constant coming and going along the main road. Today South Hill is one of the island's busy residential districts.
