Black Point – one of the smallest districts of the Bahamas

Black Point is one of the districts of the Bahamas, covering about 12.1 square kilometres. At the 2010 census it had 414 residents, which makes it one of the smallest communities in the country and shapes almost everything about daily life: people know one another by name, news travels quickly, and the sea is never far away. That closeness has long encouraged mutual help, shared celebrations and traditions passed on within families. Today the district lives at the rhythm of the weather, the boats and the visitors who pass through. If your family has roots here, or you remember Black Point in an earlier decade, please share your stories and photographs with the community.
