South Eleuthera – island district of Tarpum Bay and Rock Sound
South Eleuthera is one of the districts of the Bahamas, occupying the southern part of the long, narrow island of Eleuthera. Its largest settlements are Tarpum Bay and Rock Sound, two communities that have long served as gathering points for the surrounding area. At the 2010 census the district had 4,955 residents, a figure that reflects a string of small coastal settlements rather than one single town. Life here has always been shaped by the sea on both sides of the island, by fishing, farming and by visitors. Today those threads still run through everyday life. Share your memories, family stories and old photographs of South Eleuthera with the community.
