Chiradzulu – a small, densely settled district in southern Malawi
Chiradzulu is a district in the Southern Region of Malawi, with its administrative centre at Chiradzulu. It covers only 761 square kilometres, yet is home to around 356,875 people, which makes it one of the most closely settled districts in the country — a fact that shapes everything from farmland to family life. Villages sit close to one another, and land, markets and schools are shared by many. The boma provides district services, while the surrounding countryside remains largely agricultural. Neighbourliness and extended family ties count for a great deal here. If you were born in Chiradzulu or have roots in one of its villages, we would be glad to read your memories, stories and old photographs.
