Anse Étoile – the 'star cove' district of the island of Mahé
Anse Étoile is an administrative district of Seychelles on the island of Mahé, and its French name, 'star cove', is one of the many bay names that map the island's coastline. Like the other districts of Mahé, it is laid out between the sea and the steep wooded interior, so houses, shops and churches follow the coast road while gardens climb the slopes behind. Fishing and boat work shaped older generations, and Creole language, cooking and music still shape daily life. Today Anse Étoile is a lively residential district.
