Mont Buxton – a hillside district on the island of Mahé
Mont Buxton is an administrative district of Seychelles on the island of Mahé, and its name marks it out as a place of higher ground, where the land begins to climb away from the coastal strip. That position has given the district its character: stepped lanes and houses on the slope, views over the sea, and gardens wherever the ground allows. Families here have lived from trades, fishing and work in the nearby urban area, while Creole language, cooking and music remain the common ground. Today Mont Buxton is a densely settled, neighbourly district. Share your memories, photographs and family stories of Mont Buxton here.
