Saint David – the parish of Chateaubelair

Saint David is an administrative parish of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, on the island of Saint Vincent, with Chateaubelair as its capital. Covering roughly 80 square kilometres, it is one of the larger parishes by area while remaining thinly settled: estimates from the year 2000 put its population at about 6,700. Life here is lived between the sea and the steep, green interior, with fishing, farming and village trades shaping the working week. Distances and terrain have always encouraged strong neighbourly ties and self-reliance. Today Saint David remains one of the quietest and most scenic parts of the island.
